Stop Comparing Humans and Machines

We need to stop comparing machines to humans immediately. I warn against ignoring such comparisons. Highly official entities are already giving scientific attention to this mismatch.

The OECD boldly made this comparison in one of its recent reports, »Is Education losing the Race with Technology?« Computer scientists asked an AI to answer and evaluate literacy and numeracy questions from the PIAAC test. Some find this important and interesting. This is where the real problem begins.

The study ended before the release of ChatGPT. Nevertheless, the OECD report addresses the developments since November 2022.

Why comparing humans to machines is wrong

Humans are fallible beings. That is valuable. It makes all the difference. Equipped with a sensitive body and a delicate soul, we are geared towards potential mistakes in everything we do. We are programmed for pain avoidance and possess an evolutionarily conditioned sensory system that is suitable for keeping us alive. Not just physiologically.
